The high risk pool in Ohio is available to people who have pre existing condition, or who have uninsurable medical conditions such as cancer, AIDS, or end-stage renal failure.

With Ohio high risk pool health insurance, you can get a PPO policy with a yearly deductible of $1500. The coinsurance on this policy is 80%, meaning that when you reach the deductible, the insurance company will pay 20% of your medical bills, and you’ll pay 80%.

Your copay with this plan will be $30 for each doctor visit, if you are using a network doctor. If you go out of network, your copay will be $50. Urgent care visits are a $40 copay.

In accordance with the PPACA of 2010, any medical services you receive for preventative care or screening such as mammograms, and immunizations or well child visits, there is no charge. All outpatient services with this insurance is your cost until you reach the deductible, then you’ll pay80% of the expenses. The insurance pays 20% after you reach your deductible, for up to 20 visits. Inpatient services are the same, as are additional services such as durable medical equipment, hospice, transplants, and ambulance.

General retail medications are $15 for generic drugs. If the drugs are non-generic, and within the insurance company’s drug formulary, you get them for 30% of the retail cost. If they are outside the formulary, they are 60% of the retail cost. The percentages are the same if you have the drugs home delivered, but, the generics are $37.50.

The maximum you are allowed to go out of pocket before insurance takes over is $3000 for medical care, and $2,950 for prescriptions. This will include copays.
